I've been providing Mac solutions to clients evolved from my management consulting practice which helped small businesses and groups obtain financing, motivate employees, and get efficient in an increasingly demanding business environment. Macs were good tools and I started to promote their use.
Over the 25 years Macs have become bigger, faster and more important to people for their livelihood, education and just plain fun!. Support and advice has become more important too. Especially late night and weekends when, like many other small business owners, entrepreneurs and creative content providers, the real work gets done. Over the last 15 years in addition to providing strategic and practical advice I have been providing Mac hardware solutions that are highly customized to the work being done.
Many earlier generation Macs provide a better, more cost effective and reliable solution to the job at hand and "bumping down" older Macs to less demanding work offsets much of the cost of continual upgrades. We offer Canada's best choice for Macs. The Intels are simply brilliant machines - that said don't overlook the G5s as there are some advantages and value for money is superb. Except for portables G4s are getting a bit long in the tooth for any professional work tho we love G4 eMacs and iMacs for kids and cottage. We adore MacMinis for many purposes.
Generally the move to Intel has launched Apple into an entirely new world of mainstream work both Mac and cross platform. We can guide you in both. Time is now for the transition.
CHOICE IS IMPORTANT. Finding the appropriate Mac solution for the job at hand AT THE RIGHT PRICE is what we do best.
I've been involved in upper end hi-tech home entertainment for over 37 years now, Macs the last 25, and still love the toys and the new tools and experiences good technology can provide. I was stunned by Apple's "1984" commercial - and you know what - they were right on the money!! It still sends shivers when I watch it on a good screen with full sound effects. Jobs has a vision and it's back at Apple. He has always had a "feel" for what the Mac community is moving towards and the ability to concieve and execute products that serve the community well. Apple stumbles from time to time on new product which is one of the reasons we like to offer the wide range of proven Macs that we do.
I'm a single DAD with two kids, a daughter 21 off to University in Ottawa -almost finished now- hard to believe - heading to her Masters next year now and working coop and a son turned 19 job hunting and we enjoy motorcycling together. We always travel with a Mac Portable for both general entertainment, music and digital photography. I worked remotely from Africa for 3 months this year and thanks to dedicated staff it worked out well with a reprise planned to next year. The winter avoidance helped my recovery from a cancer scare last year. All well now. Read the journey here - http://cancerforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=12003 Anyone says the Ontario medical system doesn't react quickly certainly was proved very wrong in my case. Incredible response from the day I walked into the walkin clinic in late February to the cancer free in July and ongoing followup. Talk about fast track - it was incredible.
Was a pilot - high performance sailplanes, love fishing with my buddy - got a Muskie on the last day of the season in November...it was gorgeous on the Ontario lake. Got back in to motorcycling with my son - we enjoyed going to Motopark in Ontario - excellent facility near Owen Sound - real friendly atmosphere and top notch facilities. Now I'm doing longer day trips with an eye to some limited touring. Very happy with the Honda Silverwing which I ride 9 months of the year and it's luggage capacity allows nearly all grocery and errands done easily.
Widely travelled I'm looking forward to spending increasing time in Western Cape South Africa each year.
I'm a duplicate bridge player with many years experience but too little time but I finally earned my LifeMaster designation... The experience has payed off in the last couple years with several wins and near misses in Swiss Team events at regional tournaments. The bridge columns and magazines keep me updated and challenged but I've yet to play online. Having fun with cribbage at the cottage.
I'm avid reader of good SciFi and Fantasy- Gibson especially and just about everything else, both kids seem to have inherited the love for reading adventures..Megs taking English at U of Ottawa. Love movies and have been an HiDef advocate since 1982.
Spend many hours online in discussion forums...notably climate change and of course Mac related.
My life long interest and vocation in science and technology combined with a degree in English and Philosophy make for an ecletic headspace. I really like Oasis HD and related channels, PBSand The Discovery Channel, Wired and Discover magazines, sushi - especially fresh on the Tokyo docks at 6 am., working at night, motorcycling at all hours, bass fishing, Frank Lloyd Wright and all good design, perfectly done café au lait and Macs.
Heros and influences in no particular order
Arthur Koestler - for explaining the world to me in human terms - Act of Creation and Ghost in the Machine had a huge influence on my world view
Albert Einstein - his "exercise in imaginaton" resulting in the general theory and underpinning quantum physics was truly awe inspiring
Ayn Rand - for celebrating the individual and the power of human creativity - The Fountainhead" is based on Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright - a renegade and fighter for his own vision - truly born ahead of his time - Falling Water is a "must vist" for anyone loving good design
Steve Jobs - well you probably know why
Harry S Truman - for showing how to fight and win when everyone doubts you and for stepping into a huge role at the end of WWII and doing a fine job. His biography won a Pulitzer prize for it's author and should inspire anyone who admires hard work and vision.
Enrico Fermi -pure genius who along with Robert Oppenhiemer introduced the Atomic Age
Marie Curie for risking her life to get the atomic age started
Edwin H. Armstrong - the treatment of this inventor by the US establishment was criminal - he should stand with Edison and Marconi - instead he's almost unknown
Nikolai Tesla - eccentric creativity
Mac to the Future!!
Computers for the best of us.....
